recycle

I went to the thrift store after work and this is what I got: vintage coat $25 ($50 but was half off), sparkly dress $7 which I plan to alter and sunglasses $1.

The boots I am wearing were taller, but I hardly ever wore them because they were too bulky. I cut off the top and now they are easier to wear.

PS tip for dry skin in winter: try baby oil gel, you can get it anywhere. I buy it at the dollar store in the baby section. I put it on after I get out of the shower and it keeps my skin moisturized without being too oily. I like the Nivea lotion in the dark blue pump bottle but it doesn't seem to moisturize my skin enough in the colder months.

sweater: thrift $5
tee: thrift $2
pants: Target $20
boots: Bakers old (DIY cut shorter)

  5. great thrift finds girlfriend!! I love all things sparkely (sp?) I've been looking for a vintage fur lately myself. I like yours. I've also got a pair of knee high boots that i got thrift. I never wear them either. They look like they came from a woman who worked on a farm.. very bulky but super cute. Did you use normal scissors to cut them or a special kind? I'm definitely following your lead and making mine short. They're too cute not to wear more often.. any suggestions?

  9. I'm also curious how you altered those boots. I have a pair that look a lot like them, and now I kind of want to cut the tops off. did you leave the top rough?

  12. I used my special sewing scissors to cut the boots, I probably shouldn't have since I think you are only supposed to cut fabric with them. Luckily the boots are thick real leather so I just cut them and didn't need to do anything else.

If I were to cut a pair with a thinner material, I would probably fold the edge over inside the boot and use extra strong adhesive to make it stay.

If you are using a material that is thick enough and looks unfinished, just use paint (outdoor paint recommended) to touch up the edge.

    Hope that helps ;)
