Before: long sleeve top from Forever 21 $5 and some fringe from JoAnn Fabrics. (Feather thought it was her bed)

First, I turned the shirt inside out and then cut the seam underneath the arm from the underarm to the wrist.

Second, I placed the fringe on the inside of the shirt (remember shirt is still inside out durning the whole process) and pinned it shut.

Last, I used my sewing machine to close the seam. Turn it right side out and it is done.

Very cute tops! I'm amazed your cat didn't want to play with the fringing =P
ReplyDeleteI love the fringe top you made and I love Feather. What a beautiful kitty! That polka dot top you found is super cute too! xo

Very cute! I wish I could sew more than a button. PS LOVVVVVVVVVE your salvation army find. The back is so 1920's
ReplyDeleteThat fringing is very simple yet effective! And your find is suuuch a bargain - something like that brand new these days would cost at least ten times more!
ReplyDeleteYou're so crafty, Kelly!! Fantastic work, thank you for the great tutorial!
ReplyDeleteYou are too fab!
ReplyDeleteyou have the best ideas. I showed my mom your alexander-wang-esque bag and told her I need to make something similar ASAP.. or just completely bedazzle something with studs so I can show people and be like LOOK WHAT I DID! haha thanks for the inspiration :)
ReplyDeletethat is so great, i loveeee fringe so i'll definitely be trying that!!
ReplyDeleteand the other vintage shirt is so fabulous too(:
I love your blog but since you changed your image hosting the pictures don't load for me.. I don't know if any of your other readers are experiencing the same problem?
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your comment, honestly couldn't believe my eyes that it was from you, I've been reading your blog for ages! Love this fringed top, I bought a friinged singlet a couple of years ago and decided it would be IDEAL to make matching fringed undies. There is only the slight issue that every single time i wear them out I feel the need to show almost everyone. Las Vegas party tomorrow night so will be cranking them just with fishnets, eek. Def upload some photos of my outfit afterwards.
ReplyDeleteMelissa,
