Thought I would show you how I alter my jeans. I find so many pairs at the thrift stores, but they never fit perfect!
First, I put them on inside out. I used to pin them while they were on, but then it is too hard to take them off. I started using my white eyeliner to mark where I need to sew the inseam. (used once then it sat in my make up bag, now only for sewing) After I take them off, I pin where I need to sew, to prevent the fabric from gathering. Then just sew and cut of excess..simple as that!
So simple, yet brilliant! I never thought to turn them inside out to measure! I've been eyeballing them for years, thanks for the tip!

I ALWAYS alter my own pants. I've also made pants for myself. I can never find pants that I am truly happy with. I am the worst critic of pants/jeans. If they don't fit the way I want them to fit...then I alter. I like your method! I might use your method as opposed to mine which is a bit more complicated.

Hehe that's how I alter my pants as well (although the crotch part can be quite tricky if it's not done correctly)
ReplyDeleteThis is EXACTLY how i taught myself to alter my pants... its blessing of a skill!
